After getting a pocketful of tokens and pinballing my way through them, I met the owner of Funland (yes, I know her shirt spells it differently, but their website says otherwise) and his wife who were both working that day. We talked about pinball repair headaches, and he was surprised to hear that arcades were booming in my hometown, as well as the resurgence of interest in classic games. The Gulf oil spill hit the vacation community hard, and yet this business has withstood that disaster and many others and lasted for over sixty-five years in the community. A genuinely sweet, sensitive and kind guy, my favorite part of this photo is the adoration in his wife's eyes, which was absolutely genuine.
